We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our tour of Sri Lanka. This hotel was a little oasis of calm and tranquility! Definitely one of our favourites on our trip. The service and friendliness of the staff were second to none. The breakfasts were delicious and the afternoon tea an added treat. The location was perfect for exploring GalIe Fort. I would definitely recommend!

Oh my goodness where do I start, absolutely stunning hotel, in a fantastic position within the fort. Beautifully designed rooms and lovely balcony. Very comfortable bed, superb shower, room spotlessly clean and when we arrived they had the A/C on and a wax melt burning in the room which smelt wonderful. Great view from the balcony and roof terrace over the fort wall to the sea. Perfect to watch the sunset. Really lovely and friendly staff, we will definitely come back as this is 5* accommodation with character.

Loved our 3 night stay in this charming historic hotel located on the west side of the Fort. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was healthy and generous. Beds were comfortable and room was cool and clean. Sunset view from rooftop was amazing.

Great staff and great location make for a wonderful stay

We visited this hotel in July this year. The location of the hotel within the walls of the city is outstanding, it allows you to be in the city at the start and end of the the day and see the citizens going about their everyday life. The staff are outstanding, breakfast is excellent and personal touches like a birthday cake for my wife and the manager lending a book on the city to read made the stay my favorite in Sri Lanka. It is a fabulous experience to stay in the Bartizan

Small charming hotel, next to the ocean; highly recommend

We stayed for two nights in July 2025 and LOVED this charming hotel. It has about 10 rooms and it's an old, restored building with a lot of charm. The checkin process was easy, and the entire time we were there, the staff was always attentive and asking if everything was okay. They were all very warm and kind to us. The staff helped us with recommendations for things to do, etc. The room we booked was large enough for a family of four, which is not easy in Sri Lanka to find. (I don't why but it's not easy to find a hotel for four people/two queen beds). Anyways, I was very happy to find this hotel, and were very comfortable. There was a fridge, tea/coffee, bottled water, air conditioning, free wifi, etc. I noted there was no TV in our room, but I really didn't mind. We had a balcony and could hear and see the ocean. The view was not a full view, as there was some obstruction, but I still enjoyed the view and location so much. The breakfast was really nice: fresh fruit, toast, eggs, juice, coffee, etc. They even had an option to select kiri bath, which is one of my favorites! I really want to say thank you for all the attention and kindness the staff showed us during our time here.
