Very comfortable and pleasant stay 😀

Very Friendly Host, Quiet Location — But With Room for Improvement

I actually found this property quite hard to review — because there’s a lot to like. First of all, the host is very (!) friendly and genuinely kind. You really feel that they care. The location is wonderfully quiet. I’m honestly not sure why others mentioned plane or traffic noise — you’ll hear planes pretty much anywhere in Perth, and here it’s just normal residential background sound. No major traffic at all. It’s also a great spot if you’re heading to Curtin or Murdoch University — easy access and no battling heavy traffic in that direction. And when something goes wrong, they act fast. The toilet unfortunately got blocked during my stay, but a plumber was arranged within two hours, and the host even offered wine and chocolate as a thoughtful apology. Hard to fault that level of responsiveness.

− Now to the only real issue. I’ve stayed in quite a few Booking.com rentals, and I’ve noticed a pattern I call “downward cleaning.” Floors? Sparkling. Plates? Pristine. Beds? Fresh and lovely. Everything smells great. But if you look up… you often meet the cobwebs. This place follows the same tradition — quite a lot of dust and cobwebs above eye level. After the first day, I mentioned it and asked for a deeper clean, pointing out a few specific spots (I even tried tackling some myself before surrendering). The owner’s daughter kindly came, but understandably only cleaned the areas I highlighted — so the dust in the higher areas largely remained. A few days later the owner asked if everything was okay. Not wanting to sound like a professional complainer, I smiled and said “yes,” while internally whispering “well… almost.” The truth is, there’s still noticeable dust on top of cabinets, light cables, skirting boards, behind the TV, and inside higher shelves. I understand — warm climate, trees nearby — dust happens. But at £150 per night, a proper top-to-bottom deep clean every so often feels reasonable. For some guests, this won’t matter at all. But for people with asthma, heavy dust can genuinely ruin a holiday (or result in a steroid injection instead of a souvenir). I don’t think anyone meant to neglect it — it just needs a thorough “look up as well as down” clean. A quick finger swipe on top of the paintings or inside the upper drawers tells the story. A full deep clean between guests would make this place truly excellent. A newer washing machine, a better-quality mattress, and improved internet speed would make the experience even better.
