8.0Great food at both dinner (pizzas were really excellent) and for the included breakfast. The room was comfortable for us. Very good location for us in terms of heading to Alton Towers.
− The shower was a little weak powered, and a bit of noise from the football in the bar, but overall a good stay.

7.0The staff were very friendly.it is nice and central to travel around .it is a good hotel for a couple of nights .but it's more a pub for the local people which is good.It needs a lot of updating
− Your first thing you see is things lying around that have not been moved for a long time.boxes full of rubbish they were there when we got there and still there when we left .that was a shame as we did have a lovely time.but first impression.stays .
Food was fantastic. But the stay was not!
1.0Food was nice. staff at check in and lady at breakfast were lovely
− It is disappointing to see management react defensively rather than addressing the actual issues. To clarify: I requested a refund because of the poor experience, not the other way around. While there was a fan and eventually and additional one, it simply circulated the stifling air. The window in question i couldnt open during the day due to pub noise and smells which yes is understandable but also frustrating in a heatwave. Furthermore, a fire alarm going off at 11:15 PM is disruptive regardless of whether there are instructions on the door and I was 'leaning' out of the window trying to locate anyone. Times are indeed tough for hospitality, but dismissing genuine guest discomfort and late-night disruptions as a "false review" is not the way to handle customer service. Room was unclean, bits broken in places (shower and curtain) dead flies. Bits and hair -not mine- in bath plug. Dead flies. No handwash Very hot room couldn't open windows as overlooked the beer garden. Fire alarm went off close to midnight we were alone in the place. No idea what to do or where to go

8.0Great location for easy access to Alton Towers. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, we had breakfast included which was very nice and we did eat the evening meal there which was also good food. Easy parking on site.
− Our room was right above the bar so it was a little noisy and it was hot overnight in the room. The wooden key block didn't need to be so big to hold the key, it really obstructed getting the actual key in the lock to open or close the door! Otherwise all good thank you :)
Comfortable and local
8.0The staff were very friendly and the room was a good size. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was lovely. The food down in the pub was very good and although the atmosphere in the pub feels very close (mostly locals), people did still come and chat to us and made us feel welcome which was so lovely. You have your own key to the main door so you can get in even if you go out quite late in the night. The room came with a big storage cupboard with lots of things you could need like a heater and a fan. There is a large Aldi right next door which is good. The parking is convenient although there are limited spaces.
− There were a few stains on the bed and towels but everything did smell very clean so it was clear that they were old stains and not fresh. The shower pressure was quite high which caused the water to be quite aggressive against the skin but the temperature was perfect. The noise from downstairs did make it quite hard to get to sleep but that's just the risk you take when you book a room at a busy pub so it's not really their fault.
