Good location, easily walkable everywhere. Nice room and house. Arrived and had to look for owner to get in, so not easy check in, but the owner did his very best to accommodate and be helpful. He offered lots of information, and was readily available to help with any question or need. Expect imperfections, and have patience (ask for remote for AC or remind him to turn on hot water), but you get a very nice man that is looking to be helpful.

Terrible Management

2.0

This has been the worst hotel experience ever first we were never welcomed by the manager he sent an old man to collect the money and give us the keys to the room and main entrance. There was tissue but no soap or shower gel. We had to walk 5mins to another hotel every morning for breakfast which was very strange. No room service we had to use the wet towels for two days. Overall the room was comfortable but just bad management.

Kind and Caring Service

6.0

The service and kindness of the owner, lady for check in and lady for cooking breakfast was great. The riad needs some maintenance but the location was good. The owner checked on me routinely and even gave me a ride to the bus station.

A nice riad with a flavour of Morocco!

The people at this place was really nice, they tried to accommodate to our needs in a very friendly way. The breakfast was really nice and the location perfect, I will come back again!

The guesthouse indicated that check in is until 8pm and ‘rooms are guaranteed for late arrival’. We booked at this place precisely for this guarantee as we knew we were arriving later than 8pm. We used the reservation page to link to the email and number of the guesthouse. First we sent an email (in French) to provide details of our estimated arrival and there was no reply for several days. We got our local driver to call ahead the day itself and thought we were reconfirmed. When we arrived in Chefchaouen, we were received outside the city by a man who wasn’t the guesthouse owner. With our driver’s interpretation we were told that they had run out of rooms and were putting us up at an apartment outside the old city. We contacted the owner and he gave the same reason and a number of apparently conflicting statements and one strange question: - we only have 4 rooms but Expedia list 6 rooms so we are full house - you arrived too late and your room was given away - how much did you pay Expedia ? We realized that we were not going to be accommodated at Dar Lalla Khadouj and that we had no choice but to accept the offered alternative: it came with no fresh towels, two used soaps, no toilet paper and a poorly cleaned toilet. We had to ask for fresh towels and paper. The owner brought us the next day to breakfast at his other guesthouse (not Dar Lalla Khadouj) and apologized and said the second night was free. We declined. This listing is problematic.
