The view from our room was wonderful and the hotel has two small pools with nice views and is situated in a really beautiful garden. Chiang Dao is nice to visit if you want to experience beautiful nature. Our visit to the waterfall was the highlight of our whole stay.

− We had planned a few nice days at Buraphat over Christmas, but it turned out to be quite a nightmare. I would not recommend anyone to go here unless you have your own car and speak thai. We could not communicate with the staff in english, and even when using Google translate one of the women in particual seemed unable to understand anything we tried to say (but we did get the feeling it was more an unwillingness to understand). They helped us arrange a visit to see elephants, but could not tell us which place we were going to until the last minute. We thought we would go to one of the many elephant sanctuaries around Chiang Dao, but were driven do a crazy and abandone-looking place (apparently it had been flooded recently) to watch one single elephant while it was chained by the leg - a horrible experience and we left almost immediately. No one there spoke english either to tell us what was going on. We also booked one massage each through the hotel and they were adament that we could only book 1,5 h - but the masseus only gave us massage for under 1 h each. We thought it was fine at first since we had only wanted to book 1 h anyhow, but the hotel forced us to pay for the full 1,5 h, saying that it didnt matter that we didn't get the full time! The masseus also kept answering her mobile phone, making the massage less than relaxing. Our stay was quite unpleasent and neither of us have ever experienced such bad customer service. I think it would have been a little better if we had our own car and did not have to rely on their really experience car service (1500 bath for a 30 minute ride back and forth to the horrible elephant place) and so that we could go and have our meals somewhere else (the breakfast and dinner was quite bad). I wish we would have left as soon as we started feeling that things were off the first day, but we kept hoping that it would get better and looked forward to see everything Chiang Dao had to offer.
