6.0What saved this stay from being a disaster were two elements: The young man who appeared to be the manager, McCoy, was friendly and tried hard to be helpful. And the resort does have a very nice pool, which is open to the public at a modest fee, but that complicated the stay because it is a facility that is locked behind a steel gate when the pool is not in use. The room was spartan, and on both the first and fourth nights of my stay I had to kill a very large roach (the kind we called palmetto bugs in Florida). It also would have been nice to have a topsheet, blanket or comforter on the bed, not just a sheet. And ants. Not enough to be a major nuisance, but quite a few very small ants were around the table in the room. On a scale of 1-to10, I'd give the place about a 4, again because the manager was helpful and the pool really was very nice.
