A comfy cottage with interesting design features in a great location
10.0A comfortable and spacious cottage designed in the form of a yurt, set in several acres of landscaped and bush gardens but close to Ballandean. We had Roos and finches in the back garden, and Girraween National Park was just a short drive away. The kitchen was great for cooking, and there is both a fire and air con to keep you warm in winter.
Very satisfied and would definitely stay again if we're in the area.
8.0We travelled to Stanthorpe/Ballandean to hike Girraween Nationa Park, so the location was ideal for us. We never actually met our hosts, but they did provide plenty of information to support our visit, including attractions in the surrounding area. If needed, I'm sure a quick phone call or text would have sorted any problems. We stayed in rustic Rose Cottage. There was a great fireplace and lots of firewood provided, which was fortunate as we had to hunker down for a day due to heavy rain. I have to say that we have done a lot of travelling throughout Australia, and Rose Cottage has been the best at providing everything we could possibly need...from paper towel in the kitchen to an emergency/first aid kit. While the cottage is not large, there is ample room for two people. The hosts are well organised and I suggest the property (A Stanthorpe Getaway) would be excellent for a group stay, either in the farmhouse or one of the yurts.
− Ufortunately, up until our visit, the Ballandean area has been short on rain, so the country side and gardens were brown. Nothing the hosts can do about that, as tankwater is precious and can't be used for gardens during long dry spells. Just as feedback to the hosts, the gardens around Rose Cottage do need some attention/pruning, as plants have died and need clearing out. Two near dead succulents in pots at the back of the cottage was not a good look.
