THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE — HEARTLESS, CRUEL, AND UTTERLY DISGRACEFUL

1.0

THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE — HEARTLESS, CRUEL, AND UTTERLY DISGRACEFUL I don't even know where to begin, because what happened to me and my four-year-old son at this hotel was so deeply inhumane that I am still shaking as I write this. I am a single mother. My son had just come out of leg surgery — he was in a full cast and couldn't walk, run, or move on his own. He was one month away from turning five. ONE MONTH. I had already been through so much — his surgery had fallen on my birthday, so I hadn't even celebrated. After everything we had been through, I decided to treat us to a short, peaceful stay at this hotel. I packed up my son, who could barely move, and drove THREE HOURS to get there. Three hours with a post-surgery child, full of hope for a little rest and recovery. And then I met Derek. This man — if you can call someone who behaves this way a man — greeted me with a sneering, contemptuous smile and refused to let us check in because my son was not yet five years old. Not five by ONE MONTH. I stood at that reception desk and burst into tears. I explained everything — the surgery, the three-hour drive, the fact that my son couldn't even walk and would stay quietly in the room the entire time. I begged him. I pleaded. Do you know what Derek did? He smiled. That disgusting, smug, cruel smile. And then he told me — with what I can only describe as ENJOYMENT — that not only would he not let us stay, he would not refund my money because the booking was non-refundable. And then he told me to leave the premises. To LEAVE. A crying mother with a child in a cast, in the middle of the night, with nowhere to go. I had no money to book another hotel. I sat in my car, sobbing, trying to calm down my confused little boy. And at 3:00 AM, I drove the three hours back home. But it doesn't end there. When I walked through that lobby, it was filthy and reeked of a foul smell — this is not a hotel, it's a disgrace.

Great mountain lodge

We had a very pleasant stay, wonderful hosts and amazing breakfasts. The grounds are in a very quiet and serene setting, wonderful fireplaces throughout the manor and lots of homey touches to keep you occupied. We will definitely stay there again next time we are in the area.

A really enjoyable stay

I have been here three times in total, twice with my son and once with my wife and I loved it every time. The rooms are comfortable and full of character. The game room is where my son first learned to play billiard. Everything is beautifully crafted in wood and bricks, making cozy and warm. The owners are kind and welcoming. Highly recommended. We haven’t tried their breakfast because we go skiing before they serve it at 9.
