My stay at this hotel in Matera was truly unforgettable. The property is one of a kind, carved directly into the ancient rock, with stunning cave-style rooms that offer a unique and authentic experience. The interior architecture is simply exceptional. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed to blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings, preserving the beauty and character of the rock while providing every modern comfort. The breakfast was among the best I have ever had at any hotel, with an outstanding selection of fresh, high-quality local products and impeccable service. The spa was equally remarkable—a peaceful and luxurious retreat, perfectly integrated into the cave setting, making the entire wellness experience truly unique. If you’re looking for an extraordinary place to stay in Matera, I couldn’t recommend this hotel more highly. It exceeded all my expectations and made my visit even more memorable.

An Unforgettable Stay in the Heart of Matera

Matera is an extraordinary destination and an absolute must-visit. The ancient cave city is breathtaking both during the day and when beautifully illuminated at night, creating one of the most memorable places we’ve ever visited. Aquatio Cave Luxury Hotel & Spa is a unique place to stay and perfectly captures the character of this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage city. Check-in was warm and efficient, and the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Our room was beautifully designed to retain the authentic feel of a traditional cave while offering all the modern comforts and amenities. Although the room was a little compact, it was spotless, well equipped and featured a lovely terrace with an incredible view across Matera. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of fresh, high-quality options. The cave spa was another highlight, with its atmospheric pool, sauna and steam room providing the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. There were a couple of areas where the experience could be improved. The air conditioning struggled to keep up during our stay when temperatures reached around 38°C. Also, while we completely understand that cars are not permitted within the historic centre, transporting luggage to and from the hotel was quite challenging over the uneven streets. A hotel-operated luggage shuttle, such as a small electric buggy or tuk-tuk, would be a fantastic addition and would make arrivals and departures much easier. Overall, Aquatio offers a memorable and authentic experience in one of Italy’s most fascinating cities. While there are a few areas that could be enhanced, the unique setting, beautiful spa and excellent location make it a hotel we’d happily recommend to anyone wanting to experience the magic of Matera.

מעולה! מבחר רב ומאוד טעים להפתעתנו שודרגנו לסויטה יפה וענקית.

− מאחר ואין במלון ולא לידו אפשרות לחניית רכבנו והיה לנו קשה מאוד, להיסחב עם מזוודותינו מהחניון הכי קרוב למלון, במיוחד שיש בדרך קטעים עם מדרגות וירידות משמעותיות . לנו עובדה זו לא היתה ידוע וכשבררנו עם המלון נמסר לנו שאין להם שירות הסעה מהמלון ואליו. לדעתי, כדי שהמלון יקבל ציון יוצא מן הכלל, במודעתם בבוקינג, עליהם לפרסם לא רק שלא ניתן להגיע למלון ברכב של אורחי המלון, מומלץ להגיע מהחניה למלון במונית (ושאין להם הסעה עצמית)
