Supermercado a 5 minutos
A pleasant base for Split and its local islands.
7.0The location is good. A pleasant suburb of Split and a few minutes stroll down to the Firule beach, close to which are a few decent restaurants (Dvor and Nevera Tavern in particular), several bars (Mythos, overlooking the beach, is a great place to watch the ships going into Split Harbour and for the setting sun). and the apartment is a 5 minute walk to a couple of Supermarkets. The centre of Split with its Old Town, the promenade, Diocletian's Palace and its port are a few minute inexpensive bus ride away, but can also be reached by an easy 30 minute walk along the shore. We very liked the pool and its loungers which never became too busy during our stay. It was a very pleasant place to relax after our excursions. The apartment itself was comfortable and clean, if a touch dated, and had all that was needed for, in our case, a week's stay, including those evenings we decided to stay in and cook ourselves a simple pasta dish. We would have appreciated a cafetiere, but that is not how coffee is made locally. Local advice. Try to get into Split early if you want to walk around the Old Town and Diocletian's Palace (and you should!). Before 8am if possible, and certainly before the cruise liners disgorge their hordes. Hvar is a star and shouldn't be missed! It is a one hour ferry trip from Split port and can be booked on the day. There are a number of ferries each day and it makes a great day's excursion. Trogir is also nice and can be reached inexpensively and quickly by bus, or more expensively, more slowly, but more pleasantly by ferry. More a half day trip though.
− The fault may have been ours, and if there was mention in the booking details we missed it, but on arrival at around 10pm after a delayed journey we were asked for payment in cash. Now even on holiday I don't walk around with a thousand pounds in my pocket. The owner was happy to wait for the cash but the local ATM machines gave a lousy exchange rate, charged hefty fees for cash and had a relatively low limit on withdrawals. The result was a significant increase in the cost of the rental. So be prepared! The sea, mountain and island view from the apartment (over surrounding roofs) was a bonus but it only partially made up for the view of the next door garden sized space which can only be described as an active junk yard.

9.0Clean a well equipped with stores close for daily stuff. Also a short walk to the beach. Staff was very attentive and prepared everything well for us. Pool was great and well maintained.
− In the best of worlds, could have had more than one AC unit as only the lounge got most of the cooling.
