**Try and arrange for them to pick you up from ferry or the songthaew cartel could charge 500 baht (started at 1000!) Family are absolutely lovely food is great, happy hours nextdoor, they have kayaks and paddle boards, and will organise scooters. Beware the mountain pass if heading to the famous white beaches. Instead we had three great days out going south on the east side. To lonely beach and journey end where you can kayak to the abandoned island

− At first was disappointed with the (not classic) beach and didn't feel was value for money. Thailand just so much more expensive now high season Beds are rock solid, with polyester bedding. Nowhere comfortable to relax. Hammocks needed.

Relaxing place right by the sea

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant there and the meals were so tasty, some of the best we had eaten in Thailand. It was a very relaxing place.

− The outdoor seating was very limited, we would have loved to be able to relax more in the garden ( since it has a lovely see view) but there aren’t comfy chairs or loungers for you to be able to do this. There was nothing at all nearby other than a roadside cafe 10 mins walk away. There was not even a shop nearby. We didn’t have a bike so our only option was to stay at the property during the daytime which is why we would have loved some better seating to enjoy the beautiful garden and view.

Great stay with an excellent view

We had a great stay at Somphoch Garden! My partner and I ended up staying for two weeks, and they let us move into the upstairs room after a few days, which was really nice. Overall, it was an excellent stay. Our hosts were wonderful and helped us with everything we needed -- laundry, organizing a scooter rental, and even helping us arrange a taxi back to Bangkok. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. It was great having a balcony in the upstairs room too. There is a restaurant on site. If you're not coming with a car/scooter of your own, just be aware that you may have trouble getting a taxi in that direction from the ferry. The taxis will try to charge you an insane amount because everyone else is typically going to the west side of the island. But once you get there, and once you have a car/scooter to get around, it's a fantastic location. There's a couple little shops and restaurants nearby, and we went on some really fun adventures around the island. The main town on the west side is less than a 20-minute drive too so we often went into town for dinner or to go to the big grocery store during our stay. We loved having stand-up paddle boards to use throughout our visit, and I think the treehouse platform and the swing were some of my favorite things about the place too! Overall, a really great stay.
