4.0Our stay at The MC Hotel revealed something more concerning than a single bad weekend—it exposed what appears to be a management culture where the guest experience is no longer the priority. The problems started immediately. Our room had crumbs on the floor, and the housekeeping manager acknowledged it had clearly not been vacuumed. While mistakes happen, what stood out throughout our stay was a pattern of poor management rather than isolated incidents. Staff repeatedly treated guests as inconveniences instead of valued customers. The attached photo shows one individual directing guests to move out of the lobby without introducing herself, explaining the situation, or offering any apology. A well-managed hotel would have empowered staff to say, “We’re sorry for the inconvenience. Please enjoy a complimentary drink while we temporarily restrict this area.” Instead, guests were simply ordered to leave. The gym was closed to paying guests and we were told to use another gym down the road. The lobby became unusable for hours, stairwells were closed, and even the lobby restroom was inaccessible at times. None of this was communicated before our arrival, leaving guests to discover after check-in that many of the amenities and common areas they paid for were unavailable. The issue isn’t that the hotel hosted a high-profile group. Hotels do that all the time. The issue is that management appeared willing to inconvenience paying guests without proper communication, planning, or hospitality. Long-term guest trust should never take a back seat to a VIP event. We canceled the third night of our stay because we no longer felt we were receiving the Marriott experience we booked. If you’re considering staying here, ask before booking whether any special events, VIP groups, or buyouts will affect access to the lobby, gym, or other amenities. Based on our experience, don’t assume the hotel will tell you in advance.

− The staff was wonderful, especially housekeeping and Melon. The only thing that gave me pause, there was a fairly large brown stain on the carpet in our room.
