A Very Unpleasant and Unhygienic Experience

2.0

The fireplace, plentiful firewood and heated blanket were lovely and made the cottage feel cosy during winter. The location was also convenient for our travels around southern Tasmania.

Unfortunately, almost everything else about our stay was extremely disappointing. We chose this accommodation because of its outstanding cleanliness ratings, so arriving to find it visibly dirty was a huge shock. The floors had dried muddy footprints and grime on them. The leather couches, coffee table and dining table were dirty, covered in crumbs and smelled unpleasant. The kitchen items appeared to have been rinsed rather than properly washed, with glasses, plates, pots and cutlery still covered in fingerprints, grime and residue. The bed linen and towels smelled absolutely putrid. We had to go back out and buy laundry detergent and spend the next few days washing all of our sheets and towels. One pillow protector disintegrated in the washing machine and revealed dried blood stains on the pillow underneath. Another pillow had no protector at all and was yellowed and stained. Later that day, I found a large live silverfish on my towel in the bathroom. Having dealt with silverfish before, I know how easily they can spread into clothing, luggage and homes and how difficult they are to eradicate. We were so concerned about bringing them home that we kept most of our belongings in the car for the duration of our stay and only brought in the bare essentials each day. In the middle of a Tasmanian winter (including rain and freezing temperatures), this became an unnecessary inconvenience. The bathroom smelled mouldy and appeared to have areas around the bath that were not properly sealed. It was unusable, so we both used the other shower which was covered in black mould as well as cob webs all over the door. We both woke up feeling affected by allergies during our stay. The check-in process was rushed and unfriendly. We were briefly shown how to use the fireplace and told that breakfast was provided for the first morning, but nothing further was explained or shown to us.

Beautiful country side, peaceful serene tucked away. Loved the wood fire so cozy in Strawbale cottage at night. Pretty walks around farm and farm animals to look at. The farm produce store delicious, provided us with treats and a light dinner

Breathtaking amd relaxing

10.0

Absolutely everything! The location was magical, peaceful and full of beautiful wildlife. The cottage is such a credit to Heidi and Herbert, we loved the fire, the welcome breakfast, the cosy comfy lounge where we saw so much wildlife out of the windows . We each had a bedroom and bathroom! There wasn’t anything that wasn’t carefully thought of. The home made produce shop was amazing, delicious thanks to Heidi. My mum and I were due to go on holiday 10 years ago together but life had other plans,my dad became unwell and passed away during this time so we finally had a holiday together and I can not think of a more perfect place. Tasmania and Whispering Spirit Strawbale Cottage you have a piece of my heart. Will definitely be back.

Nothing not to like!
