4.0Nice location if you have a car. Close to Nekoma north, not too far from Inawashiro town. Liked that it has a kotatsu.
− The place was really dusty. The heater had lots of dust in the vent which kept getting blown out into the room. The tatami area would be nice except it clearly hasn't been cared for. Dusty, slightly uneven and fibres kept coming off. The beds are futons, which I'm used to sleeping on. But these were the most uncomfortable futons I've ever slept on. There is some extra padding which for some reason unbeknownst to man is hard and high in the middle of the body and soft and flat at the feet and head so it feels like you're on a medieval breaking wheel. Also, the futon storage area is dusty, so when you take them out (you make the bed yourself), it's like opening Imhotep's tomb. The house itself felt like it had relatively little usable space compared to the size. Not a big deal. In a message I received from the host it said we had to pay an additional heating fee of 3300yen per night. This was later waived when I said that's more than I expected to pay and that I was considering cancelling. The host told me the heating cost is actually included in the booking.com price. If you decide to book this place, and I'd advise against it, make sure to ask about that. A few days before our arrival I noticed our room was still available to be booked on another site and that many other rooms had had the price reduced. I asked if it would be possible to change to a cheaper room. The host said that wouldn't be possible as they were all booked and we had the cheapest room. That simply wasn't true. The appliances are all usable but dated, not what I expected for the price. For half the price it would be okay except for the beds. For full price I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
